Shito-Ryu Odokan
The Five Shito-Ryu Karate Dojo Rules (Dojo
Kun)
- Be moderate and courteous.
- Be righteous and have a strong sense of justice.
- Be modest in your words and actions.
- Respect others.
- Karate-Do is a lifetime study.
- Hitotsu, reigi o tadashiku suru koto.
- Hitotsu, hito ni meiwaku o kakenai koto.
- Hitotsu, otagai ni naka yoku suru koto.
- Hitotsu, sensei senpai no oshie wo mamoru koto.
- Hitotsu, renshu wa mai nichi suru koto.
Club rules
Courtesy and Custom
- Members will bow upon entering and leaving the dojo.
- Students will bow to all black belts when black belts enter the
dojo.
- Students entering the dojo will immediately approach and bow to
all black belts already in the dojo.
- Under no circumstances will any form of Karate be taught by any
member to any non-member.
- When seated on the floor, members will tuck their legs underneath
themselves so as to not obstruct the passage.
- There will be no smoking, drinking, eating or chewing gum in the
dojo.
- All members will assist in keeping the dojo clean.
Safety and Health
- There will be no sparring without the permission of the
instructor.
- Personal cleanliness is essential; Finger and toe nails must be
clipped; Karate uniforms must be kept clean.
- No student will provoke violence outside the dojo or allow
themselves to be provoked into violence; Club expulsion will be
immediate.
- No rings, watches or other jewellery may be worn in class.
Membership, Affiliation and Belt Test
- All monthly fees must be paid.
- Before belt testing will be granted, the student must have the
permission of the instructor.
- The club reserves the right to withhold membership.
